The Rocky
Point Alumni Association is a non-profit corporation formed by a group of community
leaders to provide additional resources to the School District while promoting
a sense of pride in the community. The Foundation's main purpose is to secure
contributions that will be used to benefit the students and enhance the educational
programs of the Rocky Point School District.
We
have achieved tax-exempt status, we will be seeking donations from major corporations
and grants from both public and private entities.
School Districts across the country, the state, and the island have reaped benefits
of educational foundations such as ours. Foundations have successfully raised
sufficient funds to build science centers, language laboratories, and swimming
pools. They have provided thousands of dollars to fund literacy programs and early
language programs. Foundations have secured large donations from major technology
corporations for computers and software programs. Philanthropy in the United States
totals $151 BILLION annually. The Rocky Point Alumni Foundation will position
the Rocky Point School District to receive its fair share of this tremendous financial
resource.
You
need not be an alumnus of the Rocky Point School District to join; membership
is open to everyone--teachers, staff members, community members, business owners,
clergy--anyone who is concerned about the school community of Rocky Point. If
