HELP NEEDED

On Tuesday, August 4, 2009, a “green tank/cesspool truck” with no visible markings dumped its contents on Soundview Drive by Elm Road filling the road and drain. NSBPOA member Seamus McKeon reported the incident to Mike Armando, head of security, who then in turn called the police.

Over the next 4½ hours two police cars, Brookhaven Fire Prevention, the Suffolk “SWAT” environmental team, the Board of Health, and the DEC police responded at the request of the police and NSBPOA President Linda Albo. Members Shasho Pole and Mike Armando were kept informed, and NSBPOA President Linda Albo was at the scene.

Linda Albo insisted that the waste be tested for contaminates; no contaminants were found after testing. As it turns out, the NSBPOA is responsible for the clean up.

The Town of Brookhaven, the DEC, and the Board of Health all said they could arrange for a cleanup that would cost many thousands of dollars. When there were no chemicals found, Rocky Point Cesspool Company responded ASAP and cleaned the area at a cost of $1,361 to the NSBPOA.

We NEED your help in locating this truck as it could happen again. According to the police, they consider this an act of environmental vandalism.

Detectives are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. Please call NSBPOA President Linda Albo at 744-4500 or e-mail her at NSBpres@optonline.net if you have any information leading to the owner of this cesspool truck.
