Who we are
The Rocky
Point Friends of Music is a non-profit, volunteer organization comprised
of parents, members of the community, and educators dedicated to
promoting and supporting the rocky Point School District’s Music
Department. New members are welcome to join our family at any time
and are encouraged to attend meetings and share their ideas.
What we do and how we do it
We encourage every student, Kindergarten through 12th Grade, enrolled
in all musical groups in the district's music program
by raising funds during the school year through sales of refreshments
and raffles at student performances, concerts
and Homecoming. The funds raised are used to supplement the music staff
budgets and to honor outstanding graduating
seniors by awarding college scholarships. In past years, funds have been
used to purchase instruments, band uniforms,
and other necessary educational tools which enhance the students’ learning
experience.
How you can get involved
In addition to monetary donations, we need parents of students currently
enrolled in the FJC, JAE, Middle and Senior
High Schools to become active members of the organization in order
to ensure its continuing success. We encourage
you to join us in support of your children by attending our monthly
meetings, and volunteering to help out.
Please complete and return the attached membership/donation form; you
can mail it in, return it in person at our next
meeting, or have your child return it in an envelope to his/her music
teacher.
When we meet
Meetings are generally held the first or second Monday of every month,
at 7:30pm, in the High School Chorus Room
and are listed on the school calendar.
